Two people have been arrested and more than £1 million worth of cannabis seized following searches in Belfast.

A 37-year-old woman was detained in Stranmillis and a 48-year-old man was arrested in the Lisburn Road area yesterday.

They were detained as part of an investigation into the supply of illegal drugs in Northern Ireland.

PSNI Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said the seizure of the drugs removed a substantial amount of cannabis and prevented £1m from falling into the hands of organised criminals.
