RTÉ News has featured prominently in a survey of the most influential journalists in Ireland.

Eighteen of the top 100 in the Murray Consultants survey are RTÉ journalists, with Washington Correspondent Caitriona Perry taking the top spot in the news category.

Health Correspondent Fergal Bowers is the most influential journalist on health matters and Industry and Employment Correspondent Ingrid Miley is among the journalists who gained most followers since last year, the survey also shows.

The most influential Irish journalist overall went to Today FM’s Last Word presenter Matt Cooper, succeeding RTÉ's Des Cahill.

Independent News and Media's Group Business Editor Dearbhail McDonald took over as the top business reporter, closely followed by RTE's Business Editor David Murphy.

Now in its third year, the Murray Tweet Index ranked journalists across six parameters, measuring popularity, quality of engagement and level of activity.
