An investigation is under way after the death of an inmate at Limerick Prison today, the Irish Prison service has said.
The man's death has been notified to the Coroner's Office in Limerick, and will be investigated by the Prison service and gardaí.
In a statement, the Irish Prison Service confirmed that the man died while in custody.
Next of kin have been notified, the statement said.
It added that the cause of death is determined by the Coroner's Office.
