A 67-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car in Carrick-on-Suir in Co Tipperary yesterday evening.

The incident happened on the N24 at Townparks at around 7.30pm.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 42-year-old man driving the car was brought to South Tipperary General Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The man's body has since been removed from the scene.

The road remains closed this morning, with local diversions in place.
