Residents in west Cork are being invited to avail of free Covid-19 testing at a pop-up centre in Baltimore this weekend.

The temporary testing facility will run from 11am to 7pm on Saturday at the Ilen Rovers GAA club in the village.

It is one of a number of HSE testing centres opened across the country in recent months.

The 14-day incidence rate in the Skibbereen-West Cork Local Electoral Area (LEA) from 22 June to 5 July is 72.7 per 100,000.

The national rate per 100,000 is 121.8.

The rate in the Bandon-Kinsale LEA is 56.3 per 100,000, while the rate in the LEA of Bantry-West Cork is less than 5 cases per 100,000 for the same period.

Anyone over the age of 16, who does not have Covid-19 symptoms but would like to be tested, or has not tested positive in the last 9 months, can avail of the free service.
