A pop-up Covid 19 test centre has opened in Bandon, Co Cork offering free testing today and tomorrow.

It is part of an on-going roll-out of planned walk-in test centres in the region by the HSE, together with the National Ambulance Service and the Department of Public Health.

The test-site is being run on the grounds of Bandon Community Hospital and is open from 11am to 7pm daily.

Anyone living locally, over the age of 16, who does not have Covid 19 symptoms, and who has not tested positive for the virus in the past six months, can avail of a free test.

Acting Director of Public Health (HSE South), Dr Anne Sheahan said the level of Covid-19 infection in Cork remains stable.

"Walk-in testing like this is one of the ways we can make sure that continues.I would encourage anyone in the area to take up this opportunity for testing as it will help us to contain any cases of Covid-19 in the area."

Centres are also open in Dunmanway and at the Lee test centre at Blackpool in Cork city.
