Gardaí in Cork have arrested a man for questioning in connection with a stabbing which left a 25-year-old man in a serious condition in hospital.
The man received serious stab injuries to his leg during a row which broke out at a busy junction between Magazine Road and Dorgan's Road in the Glasheen area of the city's southside, at around 4.15pm this afternoon.
Gardaí say the man suffered a serious but non-life threatening injury to his leg. He is undergoing medical treatment at Cork University Hospital.
The junction was cordoned off while garda technical experts carried out an examination at the scene, and local traffic diversions were put in place.
A short time later, detectives arrested a man in his early 30s locally. They also recovered a knife which they believe was used in the attack.
The man has been arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and is being detained at the Bridewell Garda Station. He can be held for up to 24 hours.
