Three men have been arrested and charged over alleged breaches of Covid-19 public health regulations in Cork city yesterday.

At approximately 4pm, gardaí said they engaged with a "small group" protesting against current coronavirus restrictions on St Patrick’s Bridge.

In a statement, gardaí said they used the "four Es approach of engage, explain, encourage and as a last resort, enforce".

Three of the group allegedly failed to comply and were arrested for suspected breaches of the Health Act.

The three men were brought to Bridewell Garda station where they were later charged.

All three are due to appear before Cork City District Court on 14 April.
