The Criminal Assets Bureau has carried out a number of searches in counties Cavan and Dublin today, as part of their investigation into the assets of an organised criminal gang behind the campaign of violence and harassment of directors at Quinn Industrial Holdings.

A number of residential and business properties were searched in Cavan and Dublin earlier today and documentation and electronic devices including phones were seized and taken away.

The Criminal Assets Bureau was assisted by the Emergency Response Unit, the Garda Stolen Car Unit and the Revenue Dog Unit.

CAB says this relates to an investigation which began around January 2015 and later escalated. It includes the harassment of senior officials at Quinn Industrial Holdings.

CAB is focused on the assets of the organised criminal gang behind the crimes.

Today's operation has been described as significant.
