Donogh Diamond was born in Co. Clare, and studied English and History in UCD, before beginning freelance journalism for the Evening Herald. He became a Staff News Reporter for the Irish Press group in December 1989, working primarily for the Evening Press, until the closure of the newspaper group in 1995. He joined RTÉ, working as a Presenter/Reporter on the business and financial current affairs programme, Marketplace in 1995, and in 1996 worked on its replacement programme, The Current Account. He joined Prime Time as Presenter/Reporter in 1997. In addition to reporting, he was also one of Prime Time's stand-in studio Presenters. He became Editor of Prime Time in late October 2012.
