Prime Time Follow Up - The Aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan

Last week Dublin-based Filipino priest Father Rene Esoy was in the Prime Time studio, speaking with David McCullagh about the devastation caused by typhoon Haiyan http://bit.ly/1ekiMZv. Here's a short update to that story.

On the programme Father Esoy expressed the difficulty of knowing what had happened to his country but also the difficulty of not knowing what had happened to his own family. Since then he has contacted Prime Time researcher Stephen Wallace from Manila where he travelled late last week to help coordinate relief efforts for Leyte, an area that suffered tremendously during the recent typhoon. Father Esoy texted to say that while his family home had been completely destroyed, his family members were all alive. He also expressed gratitude at receiving a 10,000 euro donation after appearing on the programme. You can view a few of the photographs he's been taking of the relief work on his Facebook page (Rene Esoy) where he also writes: "Thank You Ireland".
