The Tánaiste has told colleagues tonight that he had listened to the party regarding the make up of the new Cabinet and these views will be taken on board.
Leo Varadkar said there have not yet been any discussions around the reassignment of government departments between parties ahead of 17 December.
It is likely these talks will begin next Monday night.
The Fine Gael leader indicated that Fianna Fáil had not yet suggested what government positions might be "traded" or changed and Micheál Martin has not stated which Cabinet position he will take up.
The Tánaiste said that as previously agreed, the offices of Taoiseach and Tánaiste will rotate between Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil as will the departments of Finance and Public Expenditure.
The Green Party will retain their current positions.
The first move in the rotation of government will take place on Friday 16 December when the Fianna Fáil Senator Mark Daly will step down as Cathaoirleach to be replaced by a Fine Gael Senator.
