There are strong indications now that the mica redress scheme will not go to Cabinet until the week after next.
The scheme was discussed at a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting yesterday, but no decisions were taken.
It is understood that work is continuing around the setting of a maximum cap on the scheme.
This could now be in excess of €350,000 amid some suggestions that it might be set at a figure in excess of €400,000.
The question of including rental properties in the scheme is also still being examined.
Minister for Housing Darragh O'Brien said he is confident that work on an improved mica redress scheme will be concluded soon.
He told Nuacht RTÉ that Government wants to help people put their homes back on a solid footing.
Mr O'Brien said the issues are being worked through as expeditiously as possible.
