Ireland's first carbon budgets are expected to be published tomorrow after a meeting of the Climate Change Advisory Council to agree the final sign off.

The two five-year carbon budgets will set limits for emissions in key sectors of the Irish economy.

The council will draw up the budgets and the Minister for the Environment and Climate will then develop a sectoral emissions ceiling for each sector.

The plan will go to the Cabinet for agreement and must then be approved by the Dáil.
