The Taoiseach is travelling to London tomorrow to meet with the British Prime Minister, a Government spokesperson has confirmed.
It is understood the meeting will take place at Chequers, however the details of the visit are still being finalised.
It is likely the discussion between Micheál Martin and Boris Johnson will focus on EU-UK Withdrawal Agreement and the talks will also deal with wider issues.
The meeting will take place against the backdrop of unionist opposition to the Irish Protocol.
Government sources have indicated that the visit has been scheduled for some time.
The Taoiseach told the Cabinet about the visit at its weekly meeting last Tuesday.
In a statement this evening, a Government spokesperson said: "The lunchtime meeting, which was scheduled some time ago, is expected to cover the response to Covid-19, a range of issues relevant to peace and stability in Northern Ireland, and the broader British-Irish relationship."
