Social Democrats TD Holly Cairns has said the people of Ireland are looking for a new style of politics.
Speaking to Aisling Kenny as part of a special edition of the 'Your Politics' podcast, she discusses the difficulties she has faced since becoming a TD representing Cork South-West.
Ms Cairns opens up about the attention her relationship with now ex-boyfriend, Fianna Fáil's Christopher O’Sullivan, received during the general election campaign, which she said made her very uncomfortable.
She criticises the lack of maternity leave for female politicians and explains why she opted to pair for Minister for Justice Helen McEntee when she takes maternity leave.
The first-time TD also talks about how she ended up in politics, her passion for climate change and her farming background.
