Fianna Fáil has confirmed it discussed a rent freeze in its government formation meeting with the Green Party yesterday.
Today Fianna Fáil's housing spokesperson Darragh O'Brien said his party was open to listening to other parties in order to gain agreement to forming a government.
Mr O'Brien added that Fianna Fáil had shared its legal advice on a rent freeze with the Green Party.
That advice has stated that the proposal would be unconstitutional.
Mr O'Brien said that the Green Party's position had not changed regarding a rent freeze.
