A search team from El Paso County, Colorado, helped a stranded climber get to safety near Pikes Peak, a summit in the Rocky Mountains, on Tuesday.

The climber spent the night at the Bottomless Pit, on the north face of the mountain, before calling for help, the El Paso County Search and Rescue (EPCSAR) said.

"A hiker attempted to summit Pikes Peak from the Bottomless Pit area and got pretty close," officers said on their Facebook page.

Those routes are only for extremely experienced climbers, according to local reports.

Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the southern Front Range of US Rocky Mountains.
