A French politician has insisted an image he shared showing himself climbing a glacier is genuine, despite accusations on Twitter that the scene was staged.
Éric Woerth shared the image on Monday claiming to show himself climbing the Glacier d'Argentière.
Wearing full mountaineering gear and secured to a rope, Mr Woerth appears to be climbing the glacier, one of the largest in the Mont Blanc massif.
However, social media users quickly highlighted apparent discrepancies in the photo, including what appears to be two people walking in the background.
The angle at which his jacket zip is pointing was also challenged, along with the way in which the end of the rope is sitting.
Responding to the sceptics, Mr Woerth tweeted that the photo was real, and without retouching.
