A firefighter and a policeman came to the rescue of a baby deer in California after a resident phoned to say they had seen it slip down a storm drain as it wandered a street in Pacifica on Wednesday.

North County firefighter Bryn Morales and Pacifica police officer Will Smith, who took the call, managed to free the fawn in just ten minutes.

Now, they are searching for its mother and sibling, which were seen nearby at the moment of the unfortunate incident, so that the fawn can be returned to the wild.

"FAWN-tastic," the fire department tweeted.
