A woman whose husband and two sons died in a murder-suicide in Kanturk, Co Cork, last year has died following an illness.

Anne O'Sullivan's 26-year-old son Mark was murdered by her husband and a younger son on 26 October 2020.

The body of the trainee solicitor was found with gunshot wounds in the bedroom of the family home at a 115-acre farm at Assolas, near Kanturk.

The bodies of her 59-year-old husband Tadg and 23-year-old son Diarmuid were found a short time later.

Ms O' Sullivan fled the house and ran to a neighbour's house to raise the alarm after realising Mark had been shot.

At Mark's funeral mass, mourners were told that he accompanied his mother to Dublin the month before his death, where she underwent surgery for a serious medical condition.

Ms O'Sullivan died this morning.

One line of inquiry followed by investigators was that the shooting may have arisen from a dispute over a proposed will.
