A new shared pedestrian and cycle way at the Dunkettle Interchange in Cork opens to the public from tomorrow morning.

The 1.2 kilometre section of pathway was funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland, as well as Cork City and County Councils, as part of advance works being undertaken to upgrade the interchange which includes access to the Jack Lynch tunnel.

The new route will link the N8 Lower Glanmire Road with the Glanmire/Richmond Road, continue past the local Gaelscoil, cross the Cork-Midleton Railway line to 'Bury's Bridge' road using a new dedicated bridge.

The scheme also allows for access to a future railway station in the area and adjoining park and ride facilities.
