A low water search has been carried out by the Irish Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115 as an operation continues to find a man missing off the north Kerry coast.

The angler fell into the sea at Kerry Head near Banna Beach at around 8.30pm last night.

His brother, who was also swept into the water, managed to make it back to the shore and raise the alarm.

Coastguard units from Glenderry and Ballybunion have been searching the coastline throughout the day.

The RNLI lifeboat from Fenit is also helping with the search which is being coordinated by the Irish Naval Service vessel LÉ Niamh.

Navy divers are due at the scene tomorrow although weather conditions are set to disimprove.
