Three juvenile males have been released after earlier being arrested in connection with a series of road crashes in Co Cork.

The incidents happened in the Lehenaghmore, Ballycurreen and South Douglas Road areas shortly after 3pm, during which a White Audi A4 car was involved a three separate collisions.

Gardaí on patrol on the South Ring Road observed the car driving erratically.

After it failed to stop when requested to do so by gardaí, a number of Garda Units were requested to assist.

The vehicle travelled to Lehenaghmore where it crashed into a patrol car, which was parked on the roadway.

The patrol car was occupied by two gardaí, who were uninjured during the incident although minor damage was caused to the patrol car.

The offending car continued driving before later colliding with another patrol car carrying three members of the gardaí in the townland of Ballycurreen.

None were injured during the collision, but minor damage was caused to the patrol car.

The offending vehicle again continued travelling towards Cork city centre and eventually collided with a bus on the South Douglas Road.

None of the bus passengers or bus driver were injured during the collision.

The four occupants of the vehicle then fled the scene on foot.

Three of them - all male juveniles, including the driver - were apprehended by gardaí. They were

A fourth male escaped on foot.

All three were arrested and taken to Bridewell Garda Station.

They were all later released into the custody of their parents and guardians, and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The vehicle, a white Audi A4, has been seized for further examination.
