Two gardaí were injured and two people arrested following a high-speed chase in Limerick city last night.
the gardaí attempted to stop a car in the Crescent Shopping centre car park in Dooradoyle at around midnight.
The car took off at speed towards the nearby Ballykeefe roundabout.
The two officers, backed up by the Garda Armed Support Unit, pursued the vehicle across the city before the garda patrol car was rammed at the Clonmacken roundabout.
Two men who were in the car fled the scene on foot, but were caught soon after by gardaí.
A knife and what is believed to be a quantity of cannabis was found in the car during a follow-up search.
The two men are being questioned at Roxboro Road and Henry Street garda stations.
The gardaí in the patrol car which was rammed were brought to University Hospital Limerick where they are being treated for neck and back injuries.
