The investigation into the fatal assault on 11-year-old Brooklyn Colbert whose body was found in a house in the Ballynanty area of Limerick last Sunday evening is now a murder inquiry.

The post mortem examination on the boy's body was completed last night by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.

The results of that examination were not released for operational reasons.

The 27-year-old man arrested at the scene last Sunday evening is still in custody.

Investigating gardaí have revewed the appeal they made last night for information from people who may have been in the Ballynanty area near the scene last Sunday between 4-7pm and in the nearby Moyross area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the gardaí at Mayorstone Garda Station where an incident room has been set up.

They have also appealed to the media to report appropriately and with respect to the family of Brooklyn Colbert.
