A 30-year-old man who is accused of stabbing a man three times as he sat in his car in Cork city earlier this month has appeared in court.

David Ross, of Gurranabraher, appeared before a sitting of Cork District Court charged with assault causing harm to Trevor O'Sullivan at North Main Street in Cork at 10.30am on 1 October last.

Detective Garda Maurice O'Connor objected to bail being granted to the accused on the basis of the seriousness of the offence.

Bail was refused by Judge Olann Kelleher who remanded Mr Ross in custody to appear before the court again in a week's time.
