Firefighters are dealing with a serious fire at a derelict building in Cork city tonight.

The blaze is in an old bingo hall in the Sunbeam Industrial Estate in the Blackpool area.

Cork City Fire Brigade said efforts to deal with the "extensive fire" have been ongoing for a number of hours.

Seven units from Anglesea Street, Ballyvolane and Ballincollig Fire Stations are at the scene, including four pumps and two aerial platforms.

A 32-metre hydraulic platform, which can deliver over 2,000 litres of water a minute, is being used to try to put out the fire.

Cork City Fire Brigade said: "Crews are working hard to contain the blaze, and will be on scene overnight."
