A diver has been winched from the sea off the Old Head of Kinsale in Co Cork and taken by helicopter to University Hospital Galway for treatment for a diving-related illness.
The diver has been undergoing treatment in the hospital's recompression unit.
The alarm was raised at around 10am.
Valentia Radio tasked the rescue helicopter Rescue 116 to the scene along with the Courtmacsherry lifeboat and the LÉ George Bernard Shaw which was in the vicinity.
It is understood the diver was diving on the Lusitania wreck when he suffered "the bends".
He was one of a team of eight diving on the wreck which lies in some 90m of water.
