Gardaí say they're satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a woman who was found earlier today in a serious condition on the side of a rural road in Cork.

The woman was discovered by a passing motorist at the Ivy Bridge at Annagannihy outside the village of Rylane just before seven o'clock this morning.

The woman's identity has now been established, but isn't being revealed. She was aged in her 80s.

She was removed to hospital by ambulance and died there just before mid-day.
