A man in his 30s has been killed in a road crash in Co Kilkenny in the early hours of this morning.
The single-vehicle incident happened at Carn in the Dunbell area at about 2.50am.
The dead man has been named locally as 37-year-old James Nolan, who was from the Clara area.
It's understood the fatal crash happened less than 300 metres from his home.
Mr Nolan was known as a talented hurler and won county honours with his local Clara senior hurling team, as well as representing Kilkenny at under-21 level.
The road has been closed to allow for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam footage, has been asked to make it available.
