Gardaí say that human skeletal remains found in Drogheda last month have been officially identified.
It is understood the partial remains are those of a teenager murdered in the Co Louth town in January 2020.
They were discovered near Rathmullen Park on 11 March as part of searches linked to the murder inquiry.
They were taken to the Dublin City Morgue where a post-mortem examination took place.
To date, eight people have been arrested in connection with the murder investigation and two men have appeared in court.
