The All-Ireland medal stolen in a burglary at his parent's home in Co Meath last week has been recovered in Dublin.
The 1987 medal, which was won by former Meath footballer Martin O'Connell, was among a number of items taken from his parents home on 17 November.
The medal has now been recovered and returned to its owner.
Gardaí say their investigation is continuing.
Burglaries were reported at two others houses in the area last week.
Mr O'Connell said he is "thrilled and delighted" to be reunited with the medal.
Speaking on RTÉ's News at One, he said he received a call from gardaí in Kells last night to come down to the station to identify it.
He said that gardaí are holding on to the medal while the investigation continues, but "thank God, it turned up".
