An appeal for information has been issued following a fatal road crash in Glebe, Co Louth.

The crash happened at around 8.50pm last night on the N2 at Glebe between Ardee and Carrickmacross.

A woman aged in her early 30s, who was the driver and only occupant of the vehicle involved in the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post-mortem examination will take place.

A technical examination is being carried out at the scene of the crash.

The N2 at Glebe is closed in both directions with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any occupants of a white car travelling from the Carrickmacross direction towards Ardee at around 8.50pm last night to contact them.

An appeal for any road users who may have dashcam footage has also been made by gardaí.
