A search, which was being carried out on the River Boyne following reports that a young boy had fallen in, has been stood down.
Gardaí were alerted to a report that a boy had fallen into the river under the Bridge of Peace at around 10.15pm last night.
It is understood a number of witnesses contacted gardaí and an extensive search of the area was carried out.
The Coastguard helicopter and volunteer divers from Drogheda River Rescue were involved in last night's operation.
The search resumed again this morning, but the Boyne Fisherman's Rescue Service has confirmed it has now been stood down.
