Firefighters are urging residents close to a gorse fire in the Cooley mountains in Co Louth to stay indoors.
Louth County Fire Service is working to bring the blaze in the Jenkinstown/Lordship area under control.
Viability in the area has been hampered and onlookers are being asked to stay away.
Local Sinn Féin Councillor Antóin Watters said the focus for the fire service now is to protect a number of properties in the area.
A Coillte helicopters has been assisting the fire service in its efforts by dropping water on the flames.
Firefighters have been battling gorse fires in the area since Sunday.
