An investigation is under way following the discovery of a man's body in Kilkenny city.
The body was found in an apartment in the Hawthorn Drive area of the city, close to Kilkenny’s Waterford Road.
It is believed that the cause of death is unclear and gardaí said they are "investigating the circumstances surrounding" the man's death.
The State Pathologist’s office has been notified.
The body remains at the scene, pending the arrival of members of the garda technical bureau, as well as a preliminary post-mortem examination.
It is understood the dead man was aged in his 40s.
His family have been informed and a garda liaison officer has been appointed.
