A woman who was seriously injured in an alleged assault in Arklow over the weekend has died in hospital.

Nadine Lott, 30, was injured at around 4.25am on Saturday at St Mary's Court in the Co Wicklow town.

She was taken by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin but was in a critical condition since then and died on Tuesday evening.

Ms Lott, a mother of one, was originally from Arklow and lived at St Mary's Court.

A post-mortem examination is expected to take place today.

A 32-year-old man appeared in court this week charged in connection with the incident and has been remanded in custody.

Daniel Murtagh, with an address at Melrose Grove in Clondalkin, is due to appear at Cloverhill District Court on 19 December.
