An investigation is under way after a number of gunshots were fired at two houses in Dublin and Dundalk.

Shots were fired at a house on Whitechapel Road in Clonsilla in west Dublin at around 11.45am.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Separately in Dundalk, gunshots were fired through the front window of a house at Rockfield Manor on Hoeys Lane.

The incident happened at around 11.40pm.

Gardaí believe that two shots were fired at the house.

The front windows were damaged but no occupants of the house were injured in the incident.

The scene has been preserved and no arrests have been made.
