A woman was left badly shaken, but uninjured, after her car was hijacked by an armed man in Co Kildare.

The woman, who is in her 40s, was flagged down by a pedestrian as she approached a roundabout on Bothar Philip near Kill at around 7am.

The man then threatened her with a knife before taking her car, a blue Hyundai Tuscon.

Gardaí believe the car was driven in the direction of the N7 (northbound).

The man was wearing a high-vis jacket and gardaí believe he may have been involved in a single-car crash on the Straffan road a short time earlier.

They have appealed to any witnesses or anyone with information to contact Naas Garda Station on 045-884300 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Gardaí say the stolen car has not yet been recovered and no arrests have been made.
