A pedestrian has died after being being hit with a car in Co Meath.

The man, who was in his 40s, was fatally injured in the incident on the Navan to Nobber Road at around 10.30pm yesterday and was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was not injured.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place.
