More than €20,000 has been raised to help repatriate the remains of a Pakistani doctor, who drowned in Co Mayo last Friday.
Dr Farah Ahmed was working as orthopaedic registrar at Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar.
The 30-year-old was originally from Karachi, Pakistan.
She died when the car she was driving ended up in the Castlebar River, close to the town centre.
Gardaí believe Dr Ahmed was reversing her car when it fell into the water at Hoban's Carpark, shortly before midnight on Friday.
Emergency services removed the doctor from the partly submerged car, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
A GoFundMe page, set up yesterday, has received a total of €20,239 so far.
A colleague of the deceased, Dr Adeel Ali Tahir, described her as an "intelligent, friendly, helpful, bright and aspiring" medic, who had a full career ahead of her.
The fundraiser aims to raise money to assist her family and help with the cost of repatriating her remains to Karachi.
