A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Co Meath.

Daniel Blanaru, 34, from Rathmore, Athboy, Co Meath was charged with murdering 26-year-old Larisa Serban, his partner and a mother-of-two.

Detective Sergeant Colm McNally gave evidence at Trim District Court of arresting the accused today at 2.05pm and charging him at 3.08pm.

The accused made no reply after caution.

Solicitor Maurice Regan applied for, and was granted, free legal aid in the case by Judge Miriam Walsh.

She remanded Mr Blanaru to appear at the same court by video link on 16 August.
