Two men have been arrested after approximately €300,000 of suspected cannabis was seized during search operations in counties Tipperary and Carlow yesterday.

The searches were carried out as part of Operation Tara.

Gardaí intercepted a car on the M7 motorway at Lisatunny around 10.50am as part of an investigation into the activities of an organised crime group.

Approximately €100,000 of suspected cannabis was found within a concealed compartment in the boot and two men were arrested.

In a follow-up operation at a house on Tullow Road in Co Carlow later that afternoon, cannabis worth an estimated €200,000 was found during the search of a vehicle.

All the drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

The two arrested men, aged in their 40s and 30s, are being detained at Nenagh Garda Station.
