Gardaí investigating the murder of a two-year-old infant girl in Cork have renewed their appeal to the public for information.

Santina Cawley was found in a critical condition in an apartment at the Elderwood complex, on the Boreenmanna Road in Cork city early last Friday morning.

The child died in hospital later that morning.

A murder inquiry was launched on Saturday following the results of a post-mortem examination.

Officers investigating the case are appealing to anyone who was in the Elderwood Estate area or Boreenamanna Road areas between 1am and 5.30am on Friday 5 July to come forward and make contact with the incident room.

Investigators are particularly appealing to those with dash cam or mobile phone footage from the area at the relevant times to make it available to them.
