A nurse has described the emotional reunion she had with a man whom she saved through CPR, after he became unconscious while driving a bus in Dublin city centre.

Aoife McGivney, who works at the Mater Hospital, was on board the number 16 bus on Monday when it went through a red light.

The driver of the bus was unconscious and with the help of other passengers on board, she was able to administer CPR.

Speaking on RTÉ's The Late Late Show, Ms McGivney said that she cried when she saw the driver, Martin, looking well two days after the incident.

She said: "I went into the hospital on Wednesday because I wanted to give him some space as well. This was all very publicised and he didn't know anything really until his family had told him.

"It was emotional for me to see him looking so well. He looked amazing.

"He was telling me about his life, about what his plans are. I was just so grateful that we got to do that for him."
