A US company that provides a range of outsourcing functions and technologies for the insurance and financial services industries is to create 250 jobs in Dublin.

Sedgwick intends to fill the positions over the next two years.

The Tennessee-headquartered firm provides business and technology services including claims management and loss adjustment to other firms.

It already employs 400 people here in seven offices in Dublin, Sligo, Donegal, Galway, Limerick, Cork and Waterford.

But now, in response to the successful growth of its existing Irish operations, the firm intends to hire 250 more employees in Dublin over the next two years as it grows its international services hub here.

It also expects an increase in new business as a result of Brexit and intends to run some of the company's own global operations from Ireland.

The new staff will work in a range of positions, including customer service, sales, corporate finance, compliance, technology and in roles related to specific areas of insurance.

The vacancies will be filled over the next two years, with recruitment beginning right away.

The expansion will be partly driven by a significant new contract the firm has secured with Irish Life Health.
