A 42-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of her three-year-old son at their Dublin home earlier this week.
The body of Omar Omran was found at an apartment in the Riverside complex in Kimmage on Monday evening.
He had been stabbed to death.
His mother, Maha Al Adheem, a doctor originally from Iraq, appeared before Judge Michael Walsh at the Dublin District Court this morning.
Detective Sergeant Brendan O’Halloran gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
There was no application for bail and the accused was granted free legal aid.
He told the court that he arrested Ms Al Adhenn at 12.30am and when she was charged three quarters of an hour later she replied: "Yes it was my knife, yes it was my hand, it was not me, it was the power".
Judge Michael Walsh remanded her in custody for a week.
