Gardaí said they are keeping an open mind in relation to the death of a woman whose body was found in a premises in Cork city centre earlier today.

The body of the 23-year-old woman, who was originally from Greenmount in the city, was discovered on Sheares Street.

The emergency services were called to the scene and the woman was pronounced dead a short time later.

The woman's body has been taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be conducted by the Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster tomorrow morning.

The scene has been preserved and a technical examination is taking place.

Gardaí said the results of the post mortem will determine the direction of their investigation.
