It has emerged that a second 101-year-old woman has spent over 24 hours waiting on a trolley in a hospital emergency department.
The woman from Co Clare was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick last week, but her family say it was over a day before she was given a bed.
It comes following a similar case at Tallaght Hospital in Dublin, where another 101-year-old was left on a trolley for 26 hours.
A review of the case is taking place there.
Mary Fogarty of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation in the MidWest has said a review is needed at University Hospital Limerick, where the emergency department is regularly overcrowded.
